Why National Volunteer Week?

April 11 - 15, 2011 is the 37th annual National Volunteer Week, which focuses on inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities.

Since it's inception in 1974, National Volunteer Week has been an opportunity for communities to focus on ways to improve and build a greater sense of connectedness for all members. Nationally, Volunteer Week projects have included the construction of community centers and parks, city clean up, donation drives and much more.

In Cache Valley, the focus of National Volunteer Week is on educating the public about the many opportunities to serve the community and how to access those opportunities. Community members are being asked to pledge their time to any of over 80 non-profit organizations located throughout Cache Valley. With your support, we hope to reach 5000 pledged hours to be served during the remainder of 2011.

To make a volunteer pledge, please click on the "Pledge" tab at the top of of the blog. A running total of all hours pledged can be viewed by clicking on the "Our Goal" tab.

Your time will make the difference this year.
